Progress

Just have a few more inches of the turtleneck to complete and then weave in the ends. This rainy weather should cooperate with that.
Started this mid-february on a plane to the midwest. It is my first sweater, and it is the Cable Yoke Sweater from Vogue Knitting Holiday 2011. The wool is Cascade 220 Tweed. The photos make the red much brighter than it actually is. Actual color is a much deeper brick red.

In celebration of the Emerald Isle

These are the first socks I ever made. Split-toe pattern adapted from "Tops and Toes," Happy Feet merino sock yarn in emerald. I wish I had taken more pictures before I totally wore them in. They get a LOT of wear!

March On...

Just the turtleneck portion to finish. Enjoying every minute of my first sweater. Hopefully I will be done in time to get some wear while the weather is still cool.... check back!

What a pair!

These socks were made with Noro Silk Garden, and are my new favorites. They actually do sparkle, thanks to the flecks of pink and gold silk throughout.

The pattern is my own, with short-row toe and heel and a few different texture stitches on the leg. They were made from the toe up, on two circular needles.

They fit perfectly, and I'm pleased at how tall I was able to make them (one of the benefits of constructing socks from the toe up - you knit until you run out of yarn!)
The wool/silk content of the yarn means that they are so unbelievably warm.
I will get much use out of these. There is no doubt.

Another soft cowl

100% Mohair. So light, yet warm. Made this a long time ago, and am still enjoying it. My own pattern with leftover mohair.

Socks on the Beach

These socks traveled with me over Thanksgiving.... They were done on one long circular needle. Pattern adapted from the book "Tops & Toes." 100% washable wool. Lace ribbing kept it interesting, a delight to make!
And a joy to wear. Here, doing what they do best....
Close-up of the lace ribbing. I can get away with this because winter is never too cold here in wine country. I mean, we can wear flip-flops in the winter!
Yaje loves them too.
It wouldn't be my handywork if they were identical. As you can see, I ran out of yarn on the second one. Luckily I had some suitable scraps lying around. All the easier to tell right from left.

Back with many new projects.

Since it has been awhile, I have a lot of catching up to do! I will post the projects I have completed since the last post. There are many! I have been a much more productive knitter than blogger.... First, the Lotus Blossom tank.

I love this tank, and wore it many times this summer. The champagne color makes it a little dressy. It is 100% cotton, so it drapes nicely and feels wonderful. I probably could have made a larger size, but hanging it to dry (gasp!) stretches it out enough. Overall, I love this garment and plan to get much use out of it.
